Audi R8 E-Tron
From the exterior, the Audi R8 e-tron is rather attractive, though average looking, compact sports car. The only truly notable feature of this vehicle is the incredibly low ground clearance of the chassis. But, if you were to simply write this off as just another sports car, you would be missing out on a truly unique vehicle. In terms of performance, its 3.9 second sprint time and 155 mile per hour top speed match comparably with other vehicle in its class. But, that assumes that this vehicle is a member of the compact sports car class. That assumption is put to the test by the fact that this vehicle has a fully electrical engine.
Once you realize that this is an electrical car, everything about this car needs to be judged differently. That sprint speed and top speed look very good for a fully electric car. Those numbers look even better when you realize that the Audi R8 e-tron can travel 280 miles on a full charge. That is a high number for a traditional electric car designed specifically to conserve energy as much as possible. For a sports car with a good acceleration and top speed, that is an almost unbelievable number.
Conserve Energy While Driving Fast
The way the Audi R8 e-tron manages to conserve energy so well is by removing the majority of the bells and whistles that you find inside the average sedan or sports car. In fact, the interior of this vehicle is quite spartan, practically stripped down to the bare essential. The Audi R8 e-tron doesn’t waste electricity on fancy digital features like navigation, a powerful entertainment system, or a powerful HVAC system. Everything in the interior of the car is designed to be simple and use a minimum of energy.
It may not create the prettiest interior, but it does create a car that can drive nearly 300 miles without needing to charge and drive really fast while doing so. And, what the car lacks in beauty on the inside, it more than makes up for on the outside. It isn’t a family great vehicle for family outings, but if you want to protect the environment and own a sports car, this is your car.
