2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Muscles cars have always been a lot of fun to drive, and respectably fast, given the fact that they are sports cars that are admittedly designed for amateur drivers. But, despite solid speed and usually superb road grip, very few muscle cars have ever been described as agile. In fact, quite the opposite. Despite the fact that most muscle cars can easily grip the road while taking a turn at 90+ miles per hour, they usually have a turn radius that barely compares favorably with a station wagon or a truck. It is a performance dynamic that is great on long, bending highways but is terrible on a windy mountain road.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro defies this standard of muscle cars. In fact, it defies lots standards of muscles cars, many of which it helped create. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro has a smaller footprint than the models of the last few decades and a body design that is very reminiscent of the 1970s Camaros. The nose isn’t quite as long, in great part because the cockpit is about half again as large as the 70s model, and the body looks notably more rugged, but you definitely get a sense of the quick little roadster that once graced the road. Definitely Fun

The redesign of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is actually a touch confusing. In performing a review of the car, the designers noted that the previous model was very sparse on space. The rear seat and trunk was practically worthless and even the front compartment was very cramped. It also seemed like there was a wall between the driver and the front passenger. Recognizing this as a problem in a car that is primarily used for relaxed driving, the designers added space to all of these areas. Then inexplicably, they also removed the CD player.

It is those small inconsistent changes that indicate that even the designers don’t seem fully sure whether they want the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro to be a sport car for amateurs or a true track for hard core drivers. But despite the seeming lack of identity, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is still a lot of fun to drive. It is fast, loud, gorgeous, and for the first time in decades, quite agile, which is pretty much everything you want in a sports car.
